That’s why we’re proud to shine a spotlight on The 1872 Clipper Tea Co., Singapore’s oldest specialty tea brand with over 150 years of history. Known for blending tradition with innovation, Clipper has been rewriting how tea is brewed and enjoyed.
A New Chapter for Specialty Tea
With the opening of their Jewel Changi Airport outlet in 2025, Clipper introduced something groundbreaking: a partnership with Modbar. For the first time in Singapore, Modbar’s undercounter system was adapted with a Modbar Tea pressurized portafilter and custom AV firmware programming. This means tea is now brewed with the same barista-level precision as espresso—calibrated fill, dwell time, and beverage weight—cutting extraction time in half while improving consistency and workflow speed. Guests experience freshly brewed tea that’s both efficient and intentional, showcasing how technology designed for coffee can elevate tea.
It’s a bold move that reflects Clipper’s belief: tea deserves the same respect and rigor as coffee.

Clipper’s cafés now serve an inspired menu where tradition meets creativity—ranging from modern infusions like Kaya Matcha and Lychee Mist to single-origin teas and caffeine-free blends. With Modbar at the heart of their brewing process, tea becomes not just a beverage but a crafted experience that rivals the artistry of specialty coffee.

How: Yardstick and PPP each created signature drinks blending coffee & tea, all brewed on Modbar. This showcases Modbar’s versatility—allowing cafés to brew tea as efficiently as espresso, with freshness intact, and expand their menus to bring coffee and tea closer together.
This collaboration isn’t just about drinks—it’s about rethinking workflows, pushing creative boundaries, and showing how Modbar technology can bridge two worlds: coffee and tea.
