Cafe case study: Publish Restaurant and Specialty Coffee, UAE – Abu Dhabi

|

This post is another in our Cafe Case Study series. We interview cafe owners to learn about the vision behind their space and then ask them a bit about the equipment they chose and why they made that decision.

Use these case studies as inspiration for your own cafe dreams or simply to get a behind-the-scenes look at some beautiful coffee spaces around the world.

The Details:

Publish Restaurant and Specialty Coffee in Abu Dhabi. As told by the owner Ahmed Aldhaheri.

Why did you open a cafe and how would you describe your brand?

One of the main reasons why I decided to open my own coffee shop is because of my passion and love for coffee. Coffee is not just a beverage; it is a way of life that brings people together and it is very important to our Emirati culture. I was always fascinated with the cafes I visited when I travelled around the world on holiday. This inspired me to open Publish Café.
Publish Café depicts the exploration of coffee through history up until today and this journey is reflected in our interiors. On the walls you can find the beautiful paintings made by a local artist, showing the origin of coffee in Yemen and as you keep looking you can find images of Europe where coffee then spread to become the most popular beverage. It is a place for family, friends, colleagues, and community to come together and enjoy the space and the coffee in the heart of Abu Dhabi.

Can you tell us a bit about the location/demographics of the area where you opened. Why did you choose this area?

We are in the heart of Abu Dhabi, the capital of UAE, at the corner of two busy streets in be tween shiny skyscrapers and one of the biggest malls in the city. We chose the location of our cafe very carefully based on a variety of factors, including demographics, accessibility, and the vibrancy of the community. We are proud to be a part of this bustling urban neighbourhood and to provide a welcoming and comfortable space for our customers to relax, socialize, and enjoy a great cup of coffee.

What equipment do you use to make coffee and why did you choose this equipment?

We chose Modbar as we wanted to have a clean and interactive set up rather than a bulky machine that took up valuable counter space. We appreciate how Modbar allows us to bridge the gap and more directly connect with our customers.
It looks very elegant and beautiful and it matches with both our ambience and with our need for efficiency and precision. We also have Mahlkonig EK 43S and E65Gbw for our espresso and filter coffee which complete our brew bar.

Describe your bar or customer flow and how did the equipment influence the flow or viceversa.

We have a beautiful open sitting area and easy access to the café with free parking. As the customer enters the café, they can see the beautiful hand painted walls that tell the story of coffee. The brew bar is in the centre of the café and customers can enjoy a great coffee experience in all aspects. The seating is all handmade and it fits our style quite uniquely.

What’s one thing that makes your café special?

Our distinct and individualistic style and our fresh variety menu combine to make the overall vibe in our cafe special and distinctive.
